Golden Isles Jack and Jill Celebrates Black Family Day 2025

The Golden Isles Chapter of Jack and Jill of America celebrates Black Family Day 2025 on May 4, 2025. On this day, we continue with our focus on local history and our shared connection with the Gullah Geechee heritage and culture. The Wanderer Trail serves as the backdrop of Black Family Day with an immersive tour and presentation of the history of The Wanderer, the second to last documented ship to bring illegal cargo of people from Africa to the United States. In conjunction with The Wanderer experience, there is the focus on the storied history of St. Andrews Beach Peach, the historically segregated area of Jekyll. Black Family Day 2025 culminates with fellowship around a Gullah-Geechee inspired meal, an ode to generations past and the continued connection of rich history that is local to the Golden Isles.
