Jack and Jill Swim Safety Program

Despite initial challenges with implementation due to weather constraints Golden Isles Jack and Jill ended the year with a splash! Fourteen participants were afforded the opportunity to learn the critical importance of water safety education led by two American Red Cross Certified Instructors.

- Reduction in Drowning Risk: 100% of participants gained water safety knowledge and basic swimming skills, significantly reducing the risk of drowning. Feedback from parents indicated increased comfort and confidence in their children’s abilities in and around water.

- Education on Swimming’s Importance: Participants demonstrated improved understanding of swimming as a critical life skill. Many children expressed excitement about continuing to develop their swimming abilities beyond the program, and families reported a heightened awareness of water safety.
- Increased Self-Confidence: The children’s self-confidence and overall physical fitness improved as they gained new skills. Parents noted that their children were more willing to try new activities and were proud of their achievements in the pool.

Going forward, we plan to expand the reach of the program and offer additional lessons to further improve swimming proficiency within the community.
- Expand the program to include more children and offer advanced swimming lessons for those who have completed the basic courses.
- Continue partnerships with the American Red Cross and City of Brunswick Recreation Department to ensure that underserved children have access to life-saving skills.
- Seek additional funding to sustain and grow the program in the coming years, ensuring that more children in Glynn County have access to water safety education and swimming instruction.
